Hand Sanitizer

Antimicrobial hand rinses that contain an alcohol (ethanol or isopropyl alcohol) in high concentrations.

How toxic is it?

Hand sanitizer can result in loss of consciousness, decreased breathing, or low blood sugar. They contain 2 to 3 times as much alcohol as distilled spirits (e.g., rum, vodka, whiskey). Young children are at particularly high risk.
