Your impact in action

Never Alone

After her 3-year-old daughter accidentally ingested a prescription medication, Grace called our free 24/7 Poison Helpline. David, a pharmacist and poison specialist, quickly assessed the situation and determined that a trip to the children’s hospital was the safest next step.

David gave Grace clear instructions and called ahead to the hospital to coordinate care. When Grace and her daughter arrived, hospital staff immediately guided them through the crowded ER to an exam room and followed the poison center’s treatment guidance.

“It was without a doubt the scariest 35 minutes of my life,” Grace said, “but his voice on the other end of the phone never wavered.”

That single call to Washington Poison Center helped save her daughter’s life.
