Our mission is to prevent and reduce harm from poisoning through expertise, collaboration, and education. We are an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, serving Washington state since 1956.

Washington Poison Center is a team of pharmacists, nurses, physicians, and public health educators dedicated to protecting the health of our communities. Our medical staff receive extensive training in toxicology and poison information, ensuring they can provide calm, expert guidance when it’s needed most. Alongside them, our public health educators work in community spaces, healthcare settings, and schools to prevent poisonings and overdoses before they happen. Many staff also train current and future healthcare professionals, extending our impact beyond our helpline.
Together, we combine expertise, education, and compassion to keep Washington families safe and supported.

Always Here, Always Ready
24/7 Helpine
Our 1-800-222-1222 Helpline is free, confidential, and available 24/7, 365 days a year, for individuals and healthcare providers. We follow patients from start to finish, with a dedicated team of poison experts checking in every step of the way.
Public Education and Prevention
We offer a variety of programs designed to prevent harm from poisoning, including public trainings, and materials distribution, and outreach events.
Professional Education
We provide training for healthcare professionals, including clinical rotations, trainings, internships, and lectures.
Our Role in Public Health
We are a resource for public policy makers and public health leaders in tracking and forecasting public health trends. Our medical staff regularly presents data, insights, and treatment best practices with healthcare professionals across the state.
